During the Cold War, the CIA strapped small cameras to pigeons to photograph Soviet targets. Methods of getting the spy birds close to their intended targets probably included driving them in a car and dropping them out of a false bottom, as well as simply releasing them from inside a big coat. The exact details of the avian espionage are unknown to the public, as many parts of the operation remain classified.
