Vietnam Veterans Memorial, national monument in Washington, D.C., honoring members of the U.S. armed forces who served and died in the Vietnam War. The memorial, located near the western end of the Mall, is a black granite V-shaped wall inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 men and women who were killed or are missing in action. It was designed by American architect and sculptor Maya Lin.
